Abstract
A lot of households in the European Union keep some kind of pet. Especially dogs and cats. According to research, more and more obese, overweight individuals are among them. The most common foods are dry foods, that contain concentrated nutrients that are important to them. This makes them easy to get overfed. Therefore, it is necessary to accurately measure the amount of food. Automated tools can help with this. However, there is currently no equipment on the market, that would give food to a pet after weighing. This is a niche market for which a product development has been launched. In the dissertation, the design and construction of a working prototype was realized in order to take advantage of this opportunity. The completed first version is already suitable for weight-based dosing. It implements the imagined operation. After further development, it can become a successful product.
