Abstract

Kivonat A Covid-19 világjárvány az egész világot megváltoztatta, mind egészségügyi mind gazdasági szempontból és új kihívások elé állította a munkaerőpiacot. A járvány rövid időn belül rendkívüli gyorsasággal terjedt és igen hamar világszintű problémát okozott. Ennek eredményeképpen a WHO (World Health Organization) világszerte egészségügyi veszélyhelyzetet hirdetett. Tanulmányom következő részében a munkavállalók hatékonyságát vizsgáltam. Ideiglenes megoldásokkal képesek voltak kialakítani munkavállalók számára a munkavégzéshez szükséges megfelelő környezetet. Abstract The Covid-19 pandemic changed the entire world, both from a health and economic point of view, and presented new challenges to the labor market. The epidemic spread with extraordinary speed within a short period of time and it caused a global problem very quickly. As a result, the WHO (World Health Organization) declared a global health emergency. Companies were forced to find solutions for the proper continuation of work, many companies and organizations asked their employees to work from home if they could. In 2019, in the European Union, the proportion of employees between the ages of 15 and 64 who regularly worked from home was 5,3 percent, while in Hungary it was 1,2 percent. This value increased to 17 percent in Hungary as a result of the pandemic. In my thesis, I wanted to find out what methods the companies in Dunaújváros used to adapt to the situation caused by the coronavirus epidemic and how often they used the home office option before, during and after the pandemic. I was also curious about how the efficiency of the employees changed during the mentioned period. In my study, I list in detail the differences between remote work and home office, as well as their advantages and disadvantages. In order to support what I read in the literature and to find new research results, I conducted research with three companies from Dunaújváros, using a structured interview I prepared. The answers given by the companies revealed that less than 1 percent of employees in Dunaújváros work in home office at the time of writing the thesis. This turned out to be terribly little compared to the national average of 7 percent in 2022. In the next part of my study, I examined the efficiency of employees. The companies participating in my research reported a significant decrease in efficiency at the beginning of the virus, but after a certain time, productivity reached the original, i.e., pre-pandemic value. Another result of my research is that the companies in Dunaújváros were able to sufficiently provide their employees with the tools they need to work from home. The security of the built infrastructure was ensured by equipping the respective devices with a VPN and antivirus softwares. Based on the answers I received and the facts known to me, I came to the conclusion that the investigated institutions in Dunaújváros handled the situation caused by the pandemic very well, even in the absence of an epidemic management protocol. With temporary solutions, they were able to create the right environment for employees to work.
