Abstract
I work in the hot-rolling mill of ISD Dunaferr Zrt. My research was aimed at determining at which stage of the technological process the defect-causing oxide scale is placed on the surface of the rolled strip which account for 50-60% of downgrades. In my dissertation I presented the equipment involved in the production process of ISD Dunaferr Zrt., the surfaced oxide scale of iron and steel and the mechanism of its removal. I presented the major experimental programs conducted in recent years and summarized the researcher reports. During my work, I performed Raman spectroscopic examinations on the collected samples. In terms of the composition of the oxide scale samples, they were hematite (Fe2O3) while the cross-sectional patterns machined from the rolled flake showed a magnetite (Fe3O4) composition in almost all cases in the line analysis. Fragmentation of the rolled oxide scale was clearly visible on light microscopic images. Between the oxide scale/base metal, in the adhesion plane, material enrichment was not noticeable and the adhesion surface was even and well separated. The enrichment of the putative material at the interface was not noticeable. Based on the results, the possible location of the emerging defect could not be determined with absolute certainty. The occurrence of the fault can be affected by the composition of the bramma, and the heating conditions such as the composition of the furnace atmosphere and the time spent in the furnace. Proper operation of the descaling system and optimization of collector settings can also be a goal. At the end of my dissertation, I make a proposal for the arrangement of the nozzles, which in my opinion can further reduce the hot-rolled oxide scale defect. In order to state as a fact where the "plum-seeded" oxide scale is placed on the surface of the strip, further comprehensive research is needed.
