Abstract
In 1984, was the word of Cosplay created by a Japaneese journalist, Nobuyuki Takahashi. Cosplay is combinated from two English words, costume and play, which means the acting and dressing of a character. The first documented event, which attached to the Cosplay subculture, was in the United States. But this subculture has completely unfolded in Japan then spread throughout in the World. Not only the "avarage" people but also businessmen noticed this activity. With this could start the Cosplay industry. Various events are organized where Cosplayers can participate and compete with each other. Businessmen even created shops and stores which focus on Cosplay products. These stores are mainly supported by technology and through the Internet in order to boost their products to as many consumers as possible because these products are needed and are not available in traditional stores. Social medias bolster up Cosplayers themselves, in order to get more attention for the Cosplayers, about their work and get beneficial support for them too. Cosplayers are still helped by photographers but it works interchangeably, as the photographers themselves make profit of this. Cosplay is absolutely good for social community as well, it shows to the people the World in completely different way, the accaptance is much better and the perception of exclusions are less. The Cosplay subculture has the greatest positive impact on people because it gives them a breakthrough in their daily lives. This subculture is so popular that it will not disappear from the surface in the near future, it’s got just starting to unfold. My thesis examines this market because our country does not pay enough attention to this subculture at all. In my opinion, since the culture of Cosplay is so widespread and there is a huge need of it for people, including Hungary, it would be a pity to waste this economic opportunity.
