Abstract
The topic of my dissertation was the reconstruction of a significantly damaged pair of gear. The production of the four workpieces was successfully completed. In my case, determining the dimensions of the dentition was relatively simple, because most of the teeth remained intact. However, the damage may be so great that reconstructing the dimensions of the dentition is not easy. The construction I have remanufacted can be classified as one of the simpler cases, since its geometric dimensions are relatively standard, for which in most cases the necessary tools are available for the construction companies. At the same time, it is common that the design of the dentition is not as prescribed. In my opinion one of the reasons may be originated from economic political questions. The production of gears with such individual dimensions, due to the small amount of product, results that the tool's preparation fee is also added to its high costs. In this case, it is worth making it on a MAAG type machine due to the favorable price of the tool, if possible. I think most of the time, during the desining phase, the final results of calculations are rarely integers, so the design company decides that it is better for them to manufacture a tool for his planned construction than to apply a larger standard size. There are cases when it is more economical to remanufact these special gears rather than to purchase a new or a used one instead of complete equipment. The costs of the components reconstructed in my dissertation are also considered high, as the testing and machining processes are quite complicated. As I know, the gears that I used are parts of the engines of an older machine. In this case, I consider it not being possible to obtain parts for factory or aftermarket. In that way we have to decide whether it is worth buying another machine or choosing the reconstruction process which is discussed in my dissertation. In conclusion, if we take a look at the economic conditions, I think the most appropriate solution is reconstruction.
